About Time Capsule

Time Capsule is a 1970s A-frame in Gaylord’s wooded Michaywe community, remodeled top to bottom with the retro character left in. Four-story windows look straight into the trees, a stone fireplace anchors the sunken living room, and there are three separate hangout spaces, so a big group can spread out: an arcade lounge downstairs, a movie room with a wet bar upstairs, and the Eagles Nest loft up top.

Outside, the hot tub sits in the trees next to a covered deck and fire pits. Your stay includes access to the Michaywe clubhouse pool and hot tub, indoor from Labor Day to Memorial Day and outdoor in summer, and Michaywe’s golf course is about five minutes away.

Good to know: the house has a spiral staircase and several levels, and the loft is reached by ladder, which can be hard for very young children or anyone with limited mobility.

Gaylord and nearby

Gaylord sits at the top of northern Michigan’s lower peninsula, and it is a four-season town. Downtown has an alpine-village main street with restaurants, breweries and shops. Summer is golf, with more than a dozen courses within a short drive, plus lakes, trails and the Pigeon River Country State Forest, home to Michigan’s wild elk herd. Winter brings groomed snowmobile and cross-country trails right from town, and downhill skiing at Treetops, with Boyne Mountain under an hour away.

Treetops Resort is about 15 minutes away for skiing and golf, Boyne Mountain about 45, and downtown Gaylord’s restaurants are a short drive.
