About Retreat 27
Retreat 27 sits in the birches above Lake 27, an all-sports lake, so bring the boat. Step out the slider onto the deck and the hot tub overlooks the water. A short path leads down to your own 300 feet of sandy shoreline, a fire pit for s’mores and a private dock with kayaks and paddle boards ready to go.
Inside, the main floor opens to the lake: an L-shaped sectional with a 65-inch TV and a turntable, a full kitchen, a breakfast nook with lake views, and a full-size pool table that doubles as the dining table. Upstairs, the Crew Room sleeps three on full beds and comes with arcade machines and bean bags. It is built for family reunions, multi-generation trips and friend groups.
Good to know: the dock comes out for winter in early October and goes back in each spring. Kayaks and paddle boards launch from the beach all season.
Gaylord and nearby
Gaylord sits at the top of northern Michigan’s lower peninsula, and it is a four-season town. Downtown has an alpine-village main street with restaurants, breweries and shops. Summer is golf, with more than a dozen courses within a short drive, plus lakes, trails and the Pigeon River Country State Forest, home to Michigan’s wild elk herd. Winter brings groomed snowmobile and cross-country trails right from town, and downhill skiing at Treetops, with Boyne Mountain under an hour away.
Downtown Gaylord is about 15 minutes away, and Treetops and Boyne are about 20.
