About Knotty Pine Retreat
Knotty Pine Retreat is a lakefront cabin on all-sports Manuka Lake, tucked into the pines on a quiet road just outside Gaylord. Swim, boat, waterski, paddleboard and fish from your own dock by day, then gather around the fire as the sun goes down. In winter the lake turns into ice fishing grounds and snowmobile trails are close by.
Inside, the living room soars under vaulted knotty pine with a gas fireplace, and the kitchen and dining look out on the water. Three bedrooms sleep six.
Good to know: one upstairs bedroom is reached by walking through the other, which works well for families with kids.
Gaylord and nearby
Gaylord sits at the top of northern Michigan’s lower peninsula, and it is a four-season town. Downtown has an alpine-village main street with restaurants, breweries and shops. Summer is golf, with more than a dozen courses within a short drive, plus lakes, trails and the Pigeon River Country State Forest, home to Michigan’s wild elk herd. Winter brings groomed snowmobile and cross-country trails right from town, and downhill skiing at Treetops, with Boyne Mountain under an hour away.
Downtown Gaylord’s restaurants and shops and Treetops Resort are minutes away.
